During my time at the Cypress Slough, I found it to be a very serene, tranquil and peaceful. During the field trip I had a lot of time to reflect and introspect. It was much different from the other field trips. I felt that where the slough was located allowed it to be more peaceful. I particularly found it very easy to observe the scenic view and listen to the animals that were in the surrounding. It was also very cool to listen to the animals while meditating.

In particular, one thing that I wish I would have experienced more was seeing more animals. I did not see as many animals that I anticipated to see. The only animals that we saw were birds, tortoises, fish and alligators. We also observed a very large cypress tree that took over almost an entire area in the pond. The cypress tree was so big that other trees had grown on top of it. The slough is a unique place in Lee county because there are not many wetlands in the area so there were certain areas that were preserved such as the pond which did not allow tourist to catch fish.

The ideas of biodiversity can be connected because at the wetlands there were many different plant species and animals that made up one environment. All the animal and plant species interacted in their own way. For example, the animals depend on the plants for habitats and some of the animals also provide nutrients to the plants. For example, insects such as bees help flowers by pollinating them. Furthermore, the ideas of sound ecology is something that can be overlooked because many people do not pay attention to the sounds of animals in their environment. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the slough.
